Moreton Marsh is a 308ha farm (278effective ha). The property is managed by a farm manager and 2 permanent team members.
The farm is set up for roto-rainer irrigation, with traditional central races and shelter belts feeding to a centrally-located 50 bale rotary cowshed.
Moreton Marsh has an older homestead and three additional farm houses. These houses were renovated recently.
With an effective area of 278ha, the dairy unit milks 950 cows on Lismore stony silt loam soils.
The property is located on Mitchells Road, Te Pirita, 17km west of Dunsandel.
In the 2015/16 season, 800 cows produced 420 kgMS per cow.
This season the farm will be run as a youngstock and wintering block, with 1200 Wagyu calves being reared to weaning there. These calves will leave the farm post weaning, with R1 heifers from the other Purata farms arriving in December to be grown at Moreton Marsh.
The property plans to grow some fodder beet and kale to be used as winter feed.
