Purata’s approach to antibiotic stewardship on the world stage.

Antibiotics are used worldwide for both animal and human treatment. Widespread use has heightened concerns about the emergence of antimicrobial resistance, which impacts animal welfare, public health and food safety.

On the 28th of September 2016, Purata Farming’s General Manager of farm operations, Andy Millar, addressed the 4th International Conference on Responsible Use of Antibiotics in Animals to discuss the work that we have been doing to better manage our use of antibiotics. The conference, held in The Hague in the Netherlands, is an independent initiative to highlight global activities in the field of antibiotic use in animals and antimicrobial resistance in animals and humans.

Synlait Farms rebrands as Purata

Synlait Farms – the former subsidiary business of Synlait Ltd – has rebranded as Purata.

With Latin and Maori origins meaning ‘clear, bright - like a beautiful morning,” Purata’s name reflects the company’s new vision post ownership change, says Purata CEO Juliet Maclean.

Accompanied by the tagline ‘Farming for Tomorrow’, the Purata brand embodies the company’s focus on innovation, sustainability and creativity.

Juliet Maclean says changing the brand name, tagline and colour palate will help Purata reinforce its separate identity since leaving parent company Synlait Ltd.
